Alyson Leavitt

Pedagogical Coach

Aly Leavitt has been a Waldorf teacher and an educator for fifteen years in a public Waldorf setting. She began her journey as an educator in camping and outdoor education, teaching adults and children the importance of being in nature and forming community. After years of working in the San Jacinto National Forest, she began her Waldorf Public School teaching career at Ocean Charter School. Born and raised in Los Angeles it was a perfect meld of being in the city she loved and getting to continue her passion for growing community and teaching the importance of being in nature. Aly earned a Bachelors of Science degree from Utah Valley University, an MA in Multicultural Education from CSUDH, Waldorf certificate from Rudolf Steiner College and recently attained a certificate to teach early childhood classes. Aly is currently a Homeschool Teacher and consults families who want to homeschool their children using a Waldorf approach. She also has been a social emotional educator at a community center for the past five years. Aly believes in the importance of empowering educators and parents to create developmentally appropriate learning environments for children. When Aly is not teaching, she is spending time with her daughter at the beach, museums, local hiking spots or library. Her daughter has become yet another reason to share the Waldorf approach with parents and educators. Aly Leavitt is excited to share her passion for teaching, nature and building community this year at Mountain Sunrise Academy.
