  • Mountain Sunrise Academy is a free public charter school open in Saratoga Springs, Utah for students in kindergarten through 8th grade.
  • Based on Utah statute, students must be 5 years old by September 1st in order to start kindergarten.
  • If your student is currently enrolled at Mountain Sunrise Academy, they do not need to be entered into the lottery.  They are automatically enrolled for the next year, unless we receive written notice indicating otherwise.
  • If you have a sibling of a student currently attending Mountain Sunrise, it IS  necessary to place their name in the lottery.  Siblings of currently enrolled students will get priority, but still need to go through the lottery process.
  • Applicants accepted through the lottery process will receive email notification.  Once you are notified that your student has been accepted, you must submit the required documents via email or to the office by the date on the acceptance letter.   Failure to submit a completed packet by the date specified will be confirmation that the position offered has been declined.
  • Applicants not accepted through the lottery process will not receive notification.
  • If a grade level is not full, MSA will fill open spots from the waitlist until all available spots are filled. Once a grade is full, applicants will be kept on a waitlist in the order received and will be contacted when an opening becomes available.
  • After March 13th, 2024, students will be added to a waitlist according to inquiry date and will not be included in the main lottery drawing.
  • All students who reside in Utah and submit a timely application will be considered for admission.
  • It is necessary to apply each year as our database is purged annually to prepare for the lottery.

*As of Oct 1, 2023, we have enrolled 476 students.  If you would like to apply for this school year and a class is full, you will be put on a waitlist and be contacted should an opening become available.

If you need assistance, please email register@mountainsunriseacademy.org or call (801) 882-2525.

How To Apply

  • Apply Online - Submit an online application by clicking the red "Apply Here" button at the top of this page.  Completion of this process places you in the applicant pool.

If students apply after the lottery, they will be placed on a waitlist in the order received.
  • Lottery Preferences - In accordance with Utah Code 53G-6-502, Mountain Sunrise Academy will give enrollment preference in the lottery to: (a) a child or grandchild of a founder of Mountain Sunrise Academy or a member serving on the MSA Charter Council Board of Trustees; (b) a sibling of an individual who is presently or previously enrolled in MSA; (c) a child or grandchild of an employee of MSA.
