Enrollment FAQ

If you need assistance, please email register@mountainsunriseacademy.org or call (801) 882-2525.

Lottery Process

If the number of student applications exceed the number of positions available, students will be randomly chosen to fill available positions; this process is referred to as a lottery.  All applicants in the lottery pool, who reside in Utah, will be considered, and a computerized lottery program will randomly select students.

After the general lottery run, we will continue to accept applications. Spaces will be offered as they become available.

Waitlist Status

We will no longer maintain a numbered waiting list for applicants. The list of applicants will be randomized every time a lottery is run.

Lottery Preferences

In accordance with Utah Code 53G-6-502, Mountain Sunrise Academy will give enrollment preference in the lottery to:

  • (a) a child or grandchild of a founder of Mountain Sunrise Academy or a member serving on the MSA Charter Council Board of Trustees;
  • (b) a sibling of an individual who is presently enrolled in MSA;
  • (c) a child or grandchild of an employee of MSA

Registration

Submit an online application by clicking the red "Enroll Now" button at the top of this page.  Completion of this process places you in the applicant pool.

Families will be notified via e-mail and text of their child’s acceptance into the school.  Accepted families will be notified of the next steps in the registration process and the timeline they will need to follow.

Students who are not selected for the current year, will need to re-apply online for the following year. You can do this from your parent dashboard.

Current Students

If the student is currently enrolled at Mountain Sunrise Academy, they do not need to fill out an application.  Applications are for new students only, including siblings of current students. Current students are automatically enrolled for the next year, unless we receive written notice indicating otherwise.

New Students

Based on Utah statute, students must be 5 years old by September 1st in order to start kindergarten.

If your new student has a sibling currently attending MSA, please mark this on the application under the sibling question.

Non-Discrimination Assurances

Mountain Sunrise Academy is a public school open to all Utah students without discrimination and on the same basis as other public schools  that may not discriminate in admission policies and practices. The  Office for Civil Rights (OCR) enforces four federal statutes that  prohibit discrimination in programs and activities that receive federal financial assistance from the Department of Education (ED). MSA does not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, gender, ability, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, proficiency in English, national  origin, sexual orientation, or age.

Admission, enrollment, and transfer procedures will comply with Utah Code.
