Joy has lived her whole life in Utah County. She is the mother of 6
children and the grandmother to 6+. She goes by “Grandma” or “Amma”
Joy because two of her grandchildren attend Mountain Sunrise Academy.
She still remembers her very first handwork project; embroidering a
mouse under a toadstool that her older sister sewed into a baby bib.
Joy was only 4 years old at the time. They presented it to their
mother when she returned from the hospital with their new little
sister. Her older sister also taught her to crochet a year later, and
she began knitting soon after. Since that time, Joy has learned to
make many things with her hands but her favorite is making something
to give away.
She graduated from Utah Valley University with a History degree at the
same time her oldest children were attending. She is excited to share
her handwork knowledge to a new generation of students.
